Thanks yet again for another quality release, Nightdrive is fast turning in to one of my favourite deep labels at the moment. What can i say about this EP from Arthur Oskan, its brilliant! I have been keeping an ear out for something new from Arthur and im glad this fell in to my lap. I liked what he was doing for Matrix and Beretta, it was a little raw in sound but this EP on Nightdrive is fresh, clean and stellar. I love all 3 tracks.
Familiar Faces: Love the levels of all the sounds, the drums are so clean and defined in the mix and really drive the track alot stronger and his Toronto/Detroit influence is very evident with the beautiful chord stabs and floating pads. WIl play this anytime.
Instinct: A great deep house track again with his familiar sounds and influences, the production and programming is great, very subtle changes that keep you interested in the track all the way through, love the almost Caribbean sounding stab hits throughout.
Three Night Stand: My favourite on the EP. Love the stripped back essence of the track, allowing all the sounds to be exposed to the dancefloor. The fat electro bass bassline combined with pads and the subtle delay effects really set it off.

arthur oskans basic principals ep:  its feels like home. it posesses  referential/respectful  grooves that flex your soul and warm up the temperature, without making you uncomfortable.  imagine a place where thinking and feeling work as one equation.
"instinct" jams the sub frequencies on the groovey ass shaking, bass end.. while washe-pads add the clouds the colour or the urban sky.  all the while its held together with the most delicate percussive chords and MELODIES! (without being cheezy!!!) truely makes and impact on and instictual level.
"familar faces" hits that subliminal area where repetition becomes a trusted ally ..and where the deeper end of the pool becomes a welcome, dark, home. its not minimal by any means. its subliminal... like walking just above the ground in a dream.
"three night stand" starting in a dj friendly format, this cut throws in the house. warm but still tense. catching emotion, but not forcing it. building a groove that sucks, and ratchets its way under your skin. ever so delicate melodic synth work and intense rhythmic interplay on the melodic side drive this to be my absolute favourite off the ep. i wish i could have this on a vinyl record.  this song defines what techno should feel like. timeless real emotion and depth.

Track 1: Love the way this groove starts. Sounds like a twisted reshaping of 'Pump up the volume' intro. But loses me with those chords. The same with the second track. But track 3 (Three Night Stand) is the most interesting on this EP. Nice atmosphere, pacing and simple but effective and groovy mechanics. This one's a grower.
